Upware South Pit, Cambridgeshire

21:49 Feb 12 2016 Upware South Pit, north est corner.

Description
The Upware "South Pit" or "Commissioners' Pit" has been the subject of the geological literature for nearly 200 years because of its Coralliferous Oxfordian Limestones. A more recent report by Wright (1998) described the examination of the section, but, sadly, it has since become overgrown and partially covered by soil and leaf litter. The photograph shows the section at the point examined by Wright, with a 1m horizontal white scale, and, top, a hammer, 30cm.
