Description

Mid brownish-red mudstone beds interposed with two pale greyish-blue mudstone layers. The weathered upper 300mm of the deposit contains a distinctive c. 100mm thick band of rounded, usually tabular limestone pebbles and occasional flint or quartz rounded pebbles; the underlying remainder of the deposit consists of ?laminated, poorly-structured mudstone material.

?(The form of the pale blue part of the deposit may suggest erosion or contortion of this part of the deposit prior to deposition of the overlying red material.) Fine bedding or banding – suggestive of erosion or method of deposition - is present within the blue layer.
